A short while ago we published a blog post about our delight at having been selected as one of the eight finalists in the 'Excellence in SEND (Music and Drama)' category of the 2025 Music and Drama Awards. The nomination was in recognition of the work, with SEND schools throughout Kent, to deliver the musical theatre performances of 'Voices in the Wilderness'. This was a national awards ceremony with entrants from all over the UK and just to find ourselves shortlisted alongside such well respected organisations as The Welsh National Opera and Lancashire Music Service was an incredible honour!
On the 30th of January, David and Bridget Burridge, along with Hanna Stevens from Ifield School, attended the awards ceremony at the Royal National Hotel in London. The event was huge, with representatives from of all of the other shortlisted organisations, across 20 different categories, present. Truth be told, we didn't think we stood a chance against so many other worthy candidates so, for the presenter to announce 'The Big Reveal' as the winner in our category, was a total shock!
The reasons given by the judges for our win are shown below and are a reflection of the incredible hard work of the creative team who worked with the children and young people from 13 seperate SEND schools to put together the music, script and choreography, the amazing teachers and support staff, without whom this project simply would not have been possible, and our fabulous Revelation Strings musicians, who gave up their time (and took leave from their day jobs/school!) to provide the live music to accompany the performances.
